Audit Trail
Each selection machine produces a paper audit
train in accordance with the Federal Help America Vote Act of 2002. The
capability exists for voter verification of the paper audit trail if the state
determines that it is desired.
In addition to the precinct's processor and backup flash memory, each
selection machine records the individual vote tallies for the entire precinct.
An average precinct with four selection devices would have six levels of
redundant electronic backup, plus a paper audit trail, should a recount be required.
There is an electronic backup for each ballot image, the selection machine
totals, and the precinct totals. |
