Collecting Results
Election officials print an unofficial tally of votes as soon as the polls
close. A CD ROM of the totals is also prepared at the same time.
Recounts may be conducted using the electronic records from each selection mechanism,
the paper records, or the electronic precinct totals.
EVMS fully protects individual ballot secrecy. The electronic vote
records are maintained in random order in the system memory devices, and the
printed ballot records are mechanically shuffled. It is not possible to
trace any of the vote records to an individual voter.
