EVMS Functionality

Before each election, officials use the EVMS software to create and print easy-to-read ballots, which fit directly onto the vote selection machines.  The ballots are covered with transparent Lexan for durability.

Election officials are not required to do any programming.  Creation of the ballot automatically prepares a CD, which contains the program for the precinct equipment.  This substitution of a simple ballot creation process for a programming process eliminates annual programming costs, avoids programming mistakes, and greatly enhances election security.

Candidate selections are indicated by bright lights located between the button and the candidate name or question.

The system also supports the voter’s ability to write in a candidate’s name.

Voters may change their selections at any time.  Our electronic voting machine will not allow over votes.  All blank votes are counted.  For the future, if desired by state officials, the system can be set to prevent under votes.  Our system also has the capability for the voter to double check a paper record, assuring that the vote is accurate.  The voter may then easily correct any unintended error before casting the final ballot.

When voters are satisfied with their selections, they press the large red "Cast Final Ballot" button at the bottom right of the machine.
