Security
Significant security measures, including encryption and check sums, have been
implemented. There are multiple
layers of security, but the gold standard is without a doubt to make fraud
detectable at all times. The
public counter is a central part in the security of the election system.
WinterGreen Voting has partnered with EdgeFind Manufacturing to encrypt our software --
the software for each voting precinct, vote memory on all election equipment,
and the votes themselves as they travel to memory. This makes our system
impervious to fraud. In addition, we have built a check sum system into
the software and multiple levels of memory redundancy to detect and prevent
fraud.
The voting machine
has several security features including the Lock 2 switch, wire seals,
pre-election vote totals to zero printing, and printing by individual ballot.
The system is centered on a Linux
based computer, which all voting machine panels are connected.
This is used for printing totals and individual ballots.
A serial router is also included in this process.
